Scripture and Prayer Topic: Procrastination.
Scripture: Hebrews 12:11
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. (By: Bible Study Tools.)
Prayer:
Blessed Savior, let us remember we are all God’s children. Whether we spend our time with our birth families or not, we have the option, daily, of surrounding ourselves with a family of our choosing. When we grasp the fact “we are the sum of the five people with whom we spend the most time” (Jack Canfield) and we understand WE have control over who fills those slots, we can be more aware of actively choosing to limit our time and space with those who constantly judge or belittle others. We can pray these Children of God open their minds, ears, and hearts to truly hear your “lessons of love” and you may guide them through the fears that perhaps cause them to live in that negative space. When we choose to focus on self-improvement and surround ourselves with those living from a place of positivity, gratitude, and light… only then, can we truly enter the transformations God has waiting for us. We must be happy by ourselves, before we can be happy with anyone else. Let us be mindful of and embrace the work we need to do within ourselves, when we feel anything less than gratitude towards others. Amen.
Personal/Professional Growth Tool Suggestion:
Begin and end your day with Gratitude. Begin a gratitude journal… in whatever art form speaks to you. Speak, sing, play, draw, write, or paint three to five things, each day, you are grateful are a part of your life, or will be… with your due diligence, or a consistent work ethic. Know that momentary setbacks… are merely those, momentary… unless you do not return to the work you know needs to be done to lay the groundwork to harvest the crops you desire. Sometimes, your artistry gets tossed to the wayside in the efforts to fit what everyone else wants or expects of you. However, pausing to do a project in honoring the reasons you were inspired to begin in a particular artful expression, helps you become grateful of the power within you to return to that original spark… stoking your fire.
Coping Skill Suggestion:
Sit quietly and mentally “go” to your favorite “place of peace.” Silently, identify all the reasons it just “feels like home,” to the innermost parts of you… the why or how of its restorative power. Find Divine Grace, there. Then, within self. Amen.
