Scripture and Prayer Topic: Patience

Scripture: Exodus 14:14

The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.

Prayer:

Redeemer of all things, when things go wrong or astray as they often do, or not according to our plan, help us to remember and honor it only and ALWAYS because you have something much greater in store. All we need to do to receive it is stop… and Be still. Be silent. Listen. Look. Seek a little deeper, inside of us, for that is where we find our answers… in our trust in you… which resides deep within us. We so often forget these little; yet, huge things. Thank you for these little reminders. Amen.

Personal/Professional Growth Tool Suggestion:

Go for a group walk and try creating a song or a short story by having each person add a word or a line… depending on how many people are in attendance. This way, you get to learn a little about a person’s day, personality, home life, or upbringing… as the words or lines can create mystery, intrigue, hilarity, or a variety of other emotions. It may lighten up the day for someone whose mind is stuck on a really serious situation in their lives and offer emotional release, when they need it most. You may also realize perhaps someone needs an ear or a helping hand; but, is afraid or not used to understanding how to ask for something for themselves in a busy world, even if it’s just a moment or two to talk something out about a situation… which often helps afford a level of clarity. Remember to only offer advice if it is requested. Sometimes, all a person needs is one person to listen and be present in the moment.

Coping Skill Suggestion:

Go rock skipping! Find a body of water and there will usually be small rocks nearby, or within the waterbed. Before trying to skip the flatter small stones across the water, think of someone or something you are grateful for having in your life. Every time the rock “bounces” across the surface of the water, before it sinks below and stops, repeat the person or thing you are grateful for, out loud. Do this however many times you wish, before leaving the area with the level of smile you seek, this day.
